Scripting News: The Palin vetting continues (Scripting News)

The stakes are high, all right. I've been let down by liberal voters before, but even if it is as close as one of the previous elections, no-way Democrats let the Republicans legalese their way in again. Right?

Holy crickey, my friend. All I can say is: "Ditto."

Seriously, you spelled out EXACTLY how I've been thinking of late, so thank you. Good stuff.

The vetting of Sarah Palin is far from over! There's more where this came from! This woman has risen to power in a state that lives in its own bubble. She didn't think anyone was watching or would care. She was among friends in Alaska. Now she is under the microscope. She should have reigned her ego in.

Sadly many of the people who do lack skills , some times lack judgment when voting ! We Americans look for the easy way , the last eight years the Party line spun by the Republicans was the easy way ! If we elect them again , the people who will suffer the most are the unskilled and uneducated ! I am leaving my family tradition at 72 years old and voting Democratic ! Of course the Republicans who favor Glen Miller are hearing the Beat Of Be-Bop ! Making Religion and Race in this country today an issue is ignorant ! The Republican's noses are open and their Teeth are Showing ! This may be the year they get their Rabies Shot !

While I agree with everything you've said, your last paragraph is pure gold!

Believe it or not until George W showed up on the ballot, I had NEVER voted for a Democrat for president! Somehow the way the Republicans look now I just can't imagine ever going back.

The only point I want to add is that, as a woman (who just happens to be 2 months older than Palin), I am offended at the idea that Republicans would think even for a second that Hillary supporters would be swayed by Palin on the Republican ticket.

I wanted Hillary to win because I felt she was the best candidate for the job and her views mirrored my own. How does an inexperienced woman with views that are nothing like Hillary's attract the Hillary vote? Do the Republicans think we wouldn't see past her gender to her actual beliefs? Wow!

At this point I'm 100% for Obama.

    very well said.
I could easily vote Republican/Libertarian/Green if they had a candidate with brains.

I agree that Obama should be his own man and let Americans decide. If a majority of americans keep voting for the Conservative Wrecking Crew...then they have no one to blame but themselves when we continue to lose relevancy in a more sophisticated world.

I'm in awe of how americans fall into fear so easily and refuse to think clearly. It's sad what could be coming up the pipeline.

    Dave,

Who gives a crap about the "527" groups - the dems want to use them for moveon.org, or that dem front organization "the fund for America", but the republicans aren't allowed?

There's no doubt you're a bright guy, but you're wrong on this one. Along with the help from the "we know better than you" democrats, Obama will bury this country. I've read his whole plan and all I see is spend spend spend. Guess who'll be paying paying paying? us.

I'm not arguing the fact that republicans are blowing it left and right- I don't trust ANY of them anymore.

But this world is coming loose at the edges-Russia, Iran, China....all major powers that don't value freedom the way most Americans do. If Obama wins, and the dems retain power in Congress- things will change for sure. But not for the better.

Then who will you (and every other democrat) blame?

Perfect illustration of my post, which you clearly didn't even bother to read.

    Hi Dave

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in your views for the simple reason that I think America has 2 great presidential candidates right now. I think it's fair to say that you like one over the other, but America hasn't had candidates as strong as this in my lifetime (in my opinion). If Barack wins, it will be because he is one of the best and brightest that America has ever had. It won't be because McCain is stupid, selfish, (fill in the blank).

But it seems that some Americans would rather blast their public servants than celebrate that, finally, there is a decent choice.

Unfortunate. (But then again, thankfully, I'm Canadian.)

    Huzzah!

I was a registered independent until Howard Dean. If Hillary ahd been the candidate I would have become one again, even though I'd have probably had no choice but to vote for her, because the alternative is national suicide. Like Dave, my skills are valuable all over the planet, but like Dave, this is home, and what happens to America happens to me.

I seriously hope people will realize just how vulnerable we are at this moment to blowing this election if we handle his veep pick badly. This is a booby trap (no pun intended) waiting for a fool to set it off. Stick to her issues, show respect for her accomplishments. remember, if she were a liberal version of the same person (keeps the guns, dog sleds, and beauty queen title, loses the fundiness & flat-earthiness) we'd be cheering her on, for anything but veep.

McCain's campaign seems not to have even checked out Palin's hometown newspaper's archives (which aren't online).

This is the choice of a man with good judgement?
  • achernow · 1 year ago
All things aside, I'm glad for everything that's come out on Palin so far. McBush wanted to paint her as the innocent woman, but we're slowly finding out that she's not that innocent after all.

Sadly, though, I don't have faith in the American voters to pay attention to any of this. They'll blindly vote for her because she's the female, not even caring that they're voting for McBush and 4 more years of the same old s*@#. As you pointed out, we saw what happened last time around... I'm just hoping that Obama can hold onto enough of a lead to make it to the White House.

    -Adam

p.s. Not that it matters, but I'd NEVER vote for a Republican... The one time I had a ballot with one running un-opposed, I decided not to "vote" for that person. (In other words, I "forgot" to vote for that position.)

I think they're still scared of us and they're prodding a little here and there to see if we'll react rationally or not.

Your economy is growing fast on exports to us - we'll let the dollar weaken a little more and slow it down.

Food shortage? We'll subsidize corn ethanol and US agriculture to push corn for fuel and not fuel and to prevent your local agriculture from developing.

Patriots in Poland. Sure, we're there. NATO for former states (in the works before this president was seated), yeah we'll do that. Don't like it? Bluster up. What's next?

Have we finished selling worthless banks to middle east sovereign funds yet?

There are many types of fear and many levers to pull.

Dave, nice post. While I don't agree with everything you write, this is the kind of dialogue that will lead to better decisions. The press has long pushed partisan nastiness because it sells.
