so, the comments he supposedly made, about Americans going to hell were not correct reporting? Just wondering. How were you able to view his sermons? I would love a chance to check them out for myself, but i will tell you this... if that man did say the things they report he did, and if I feel he meant them the way they came out.......then the problem of letting Obama in the oval office is really due to an anti american sentiment, not what race he is.
For the record, I have African American relatives that I adore, I myself am a pound puppy american... I honestly do not see color, I do see anti social behaviors tho.

    Lisa,

You can find his sermons on iTunes. The full text is printed at CNN. He didn't say American was going to hell. What he said was something entirely different, and something anyone who opposes the Iraq war has also said.

This is something that is common to the structure of most Christian preaching: begin with hell fire, end with salvation. It's also the vector of the story Jews tell on Passover: from slavery to freedom. And it's the message of the Biblical prophets--turn from your evil ways and return to God.

"God Damn America" cuts him off in mid-sentence. Here's how it ends: "...as long as she tries to act like she is God and she is supreme."

As for the indictment that leads up to "God damn America," watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvMbeVQj6Lw

Wright's church has a channel on YouTube. You'll find long excerpts from all the Wright sermons that were unfairly snipped and looped here:

Even with your analysis of Rev Wright -- do you REALLY think Obama holds anti-American sentiments ? Really ???

Or is there something else that bothers you about him -- something that might be perfectly valid -- and believing that he's a closet non-patriot makes it easier for you to dismiss him ?

I took this one step further on my blog post today. I think it's time for Barack Obama to invite Jeremiah Wright to join him on the campaign trail and introduce folks to the REAL Jeremiah Wright. Wright is being demonized because he is unknown, beyond a few choice sound bites shown over and over again. The truth is a wonderful anecdote to ignorance.

anyone who expected it was going to be easy for america to elect a black man president was fooling themselves. same is true for a woman. the only thing John McCain has going for him is he looks more like all the presidents who have come before him than Obama or Hillary.

that's going to change in our lifetime. but will it happen now or in a few more years?

i was hoping it would happen now. but the demonizing of Barack and his "elitism" and "anti americanism" make me less optimistic that it can happen. at least Barack is not running away from who he is. Hillary is pretending to be a republican man.

I've posted the full audio of the two "controversial" sermons as well as Wright's Audacity to Hope sermon on my website. When the full sermon is heard in context, it isn't hateful in the least. I challenge anyone who really wants to make an honest judgment to download them and listen.

So, all you Rev. Wright supporters are you going to through Obama under the bus now? Who is right now, Obama who called the speeches a "spectacle" or Rev. Wright? If you think the Reverand is "speaking Truth to Power" then what does that make Obama? It's fun to see the democratic party get caught up in its own devices.
