Hey Dave -

Has your perspective on Twitter changed much since this post?

I was late to the Twitter game, but with the help of posts like this and the ability to get in and see how others were using it I was able to really grasp it.

I shared a bit about my 1st go with Twitter here.

Hopefully it will inspire others to join us and get something out of using Twitter.

This is funny. I just signed up for Twitter yesterday. Both I and a friend went back and forth trying to figure out the point. I even blogged about what we went through. Today I decided to try to figure out what people are using Twitter for. I'm glad I came across your blog.

It's amazing how much context you can gain from Twitter, following people/events/news stories/emerging technologies, etc., all over the world.

I'm sure we'll find many ways to make use of it.

The biggest problem is discovery. Blogs have Google. Twitter has... Google that points to blogs that point to Twitter :)

Twitter gives me an opportunity to learn about to find the best vehicles for online marketing. In the past week I've learned more than I could have reading several books. Plus, I'm learning from the best. Who could ask for more?

twitter is like sitting at sidewalk cafe where you know everyone who is walking by ... and can hear what their conversations are and the often know the context of the conversation - game changer

By the same token I am leery of Twitter being re-defined by expanding it's capabilities. It's odd, but I think some of what makes it so enjoyably useful are it's limitations... text... links... 140 character limit. etc.

Twitter gives me the "office environment" I lack by working alone in a home-based office. My Twitter friends are my co-workers. Their tweets are my water cooler conversations.

And I certainly do get a lot of good information from some of the links they share.

Thanks for that! That other anti twitter hype was just stupid IMHO. When I am too busy I switch off. Works just like TV! duh!

Agreed, Twitter is a communication tool. Maybe deemed frivolous by some, and essential by others - just like a cell phone. It's interesting to watch the extreme positions come out after days like yesterday. Thanks for the point Dave!
